Project Impacting Lives of Menstruators
Project Impacting Lives of Menstruators (ILM) aims to build an ecosystem where Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and menstruation-related issues are well understood, and youth particularly young women have access to accurate information, essential resources, and quality services while fully exercising their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights.
A key activity under this project, the Period Fellowship, empowers young women with the knowledge, skills, resources, and mentorship needed to champion SRHR and safe menstrual health and hygiene within their communities. Period Fellows undergo intensive capacity-building workshops, participate in exposure visits, and design and implement social action plans. They actively mobilize local resources, foster community linkages, and establish strong support systems driving sustainable change and breaking taboos around SRHR and menstruation. Fellows engage with students, youth, community representatives and other stakeholders through different activities.
As a result of increased community engagement and understanding of SRHR and menstrual health and hygiene, this program is spurring a cultural shift rooted in supporting menstruators partially school-aged girls. They become confident enough to seek further education and pursue management practices best suited to them as individuals. It does not only create a society with informed women leaders but also creates safe spaces for younger generations.
